Today, Congressman Patrick McHenry responded to the ruling by the United States Supreme Court overturning the District of Columbia’s ban on gun ownership.

“The right to bear arms is a basic, fundamental right in this country.  I’m glad the Supreme Court made it clear that this right is guaranteed to every individual citizen by the Second Amendment.  Shame on the four justices who blatantly disregarded the explicit text of our Constitution,” Congressman McHenry declared.

Congressman McHenry co-signed an amicus brief submitted to the Court by several lawmakers urging protection of the right to bear arms.
