CONSTITUENT SERVICES - INTERNSHIPS

Congressman Shuster offers several internships throughout the year which are geared towards college students majoring in Political Science and those who are particularly interested in government.  Internships that take place during the school year will fill the duration of one semester, and summer internships generally last 6 - 8 weeks.  If interested, it is definitely possible to obtain course credit through your college or university.  Furthermore, it is not a requirement that an applicant be from the Ninth District.

Interns who choose to work in the Washington, DC office work closely with professional staff on a variety of legislative projects and will be assigned clerical tasks as well.  Responsibilities range from attending hearings to researching specific issues and constituent inquiries, and you will have many opportunities to familiarize yourself with the Capitol and House and Senate buildings.

Interns who choose to work in the Hollidaysburg office will concentrate on researching constituent inquiries and acting as a liaison between constituents and various federal agencies, as well as performing clerical tasks.

If you would like to be a Congressional Intern, please print the Intern Application below and fax it to the Intern Coordinator in Congressman Shuster's Washington, D.C. office at 202-225-2486. Please submit the application along with a short writing sample.
