The Shuster Plan for Energy Independence
The fact that we are paying over $4 a gallon for gas is completely unconscionable. I share the frustrations of all Americans that Congress has failed to act to solve our energy crisis. For years I have argued and pushed for real solutions to our nation’s energy needs, but precious little has been done to give the American people the pragmatic, sustainable energy solutions we deserve. Our energy crisis is having a dramatic impact on our economy and on the pocketbooks of families across the 9th district. The time for Congress to act is now.
In response, I have introduced the “Energy Independence Act;” legislation, that will reverse decades of outdated energy policies and allow us to drill here, drill now, and pay less. But drilling alone won’t free us from high prices and oil dependence. My legislation also takes steps to invest in new and existing alternative energies like clean coal, coal to liquid, nuclear, and bio-fuels, that will bridge the gap between our current petroleum based economy and a future of energy choice.
