What is the Third Congressional District?

As a Congressman, I represent the Third District; one of 15 Congressional Districts which cover the state of Michigan. Contained in my district are Barry and Ionia counties, and most of Kent County. Cities in my district include Grand Rapids, Cedar Springs, East Grand Rapids, Grandville, Kentwood, Lowell, Rockford, Walker, Wyoming, Belding, Ionia, Portland and Hastings. Did you know that 30 different people have represented the Grand Rapids area in the U.S. House of Representatives? That only seven of them were born in the state of Michigan and that only two were born in Grand Rapids? That the person with the shortest term of office served just five months, while the longest serving representative held office for more than 26 years?
