Education
Congress has yet to consider the reauthorization of the No Child Left Behind law. But Congress did recently pass the College Opportunity and Affordability Act of 2007, which amongst other things reauthorizes the Higher Education Act. I voted in strong support of this legislation, which allowed for increases in Pell grants, more awareness and available information relating to University tuition increases, and stronger regulation preventing collusion between Universities and credit providers.
A high quality education, of course, is the key to success for all our young people. I hope Congress continues to do its part to help strengthen our education system for all Alabamians.
