Forbes, Ranking Member Boozman to Meet With City of Franklin on Chowan River Basin Study





 

Washington, D.C., Oct 6 - Congressman J. Randy Forbes (VA-04) announced today that he has invited Congressman John Boozman, Ranking Member of the House Transportation Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment, to meet with City of Franklin officials and other community leaders to discuss important transportation and infrastructure projects in the region. The meeting will provide an opportunity for the City of Franklin to present the Chowan River Basin project to an influential Member of Congress on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

Congressman Randy Forbes; Congressman John Boozman, Ranking Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment; Officials from Franklin, Southampton, Isle of Wight, Emporia, Greensville and Sussex; Delegate Roslyn Tyler; Representatives from the Governor’s Office and Senator Webb’s office; Virginia Department of Emergency Services; Virginia Department of Transportation; Virginia Department of Emergency Services.

 

WHAT:

A meeting to provide the City of Franklin with an opportunity to present the Chowan River Basin project and other concerns to an influential Ranking Member of Congress on a relevant Congressional Subcommittee, and allow Ranking Member Boozman to investigate the project and offer feedback on funding opportunities.

Immediately following the meeting, Congressman Forbes, City of Franklin Mayor Jim Councill and the Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) will hold a press conference on the recent announcement of an ACOE preliminary study of the water challenges posed by the Chowan River Basin.
