How can I help?

If you are a constituent of the 28th Congressional District of California, our office can assist you with matters involving Federal agencies. We also provide for visitors to Washington, DC, and can arrange to have a flag flown for you over the U.S. Capitol building.

GovBenefits.gov

If you are in need of government assistance, but are unsure where to go for information on how to apply, Govbenefits.gov may be the answer. It reduces the amount of research needed to take advantage of government benefits programs by providing information only on those programs most likely to benefit each individual.

Constituents complete a confidential questionnaire and Govebenefits.gov matches their request with the appropriate benefit programs, and provides application information. It contains a wide variety of information on such topics as Medicaid/Medicare, small business loans, scholarships, and disaster relief, to name a few.

Help with Federal Agencies

Of course, I cannot guarantee a favorable response but I can contact an agency on your behalf and make sure that you get fair and timely consideration of your problem and that your inquiry will be examined at the highest level. Many times, the most important part of the battle is just figuring out which official to contact. My office can help you with this information.

Here's how to request assistance. First, you must be a resident of the 28th Congressional District. Congressional courtesy demands that each Member of Congress address the federal problems of his or her own constituents. So, if you live outside the 28th Congressional District, you should contact your Representative.

The Privacy Act mandates that we have your written consent before a caseworker can obtain facts about you from any federal agency. The best way to initiate action is to write to me, giving me a brief explanation of your problem and ask for my assistance. Be sure to include a case number (if you have one) and any pertinent supporting documents.

You can print out forms for:
(PDF, requires Adobe Acrobat)

Please include all supporting documents. You can either send the forms, or bring them in to:

14546 Hamlin Street, Suite #202
Van Nuys, CA 91411
Fax: 818-994-1050

These are some of the most common problems that my staff and I can help you solve:

  • locating lost Social Security, Veteran or Federal Retiree checks and benefits;
  • determining eligibility requirements for Social Security, SSI and Medicare benefits;
  • obtaining military records, dealing with VA hospitals and clinics, reissuing lost, stolen or unissued service awards;
  • answering inquiries regarding U.S. Citizens Abroad, visas, passports and other State Department matters;
  • helping with IRS problems;
  • giving information on EEOC procedures;
  • answering inquiries on immigration, asylum and citizenship problems;
  • helping with U.S. Postal delivery problems;
  • determining eligibility for SBA and FHA loan applications.

I am not able to offer legal advice or recommend an attorney. I cannot intervene in cases that are under the jurisdiction of any court. But I will try, when possible, to find an administrative solution within our Federal agencies. I look forward to being of assistance to you.
