Senator Brown joined a group of fellow Senators on November 20th 2008 to discuss the details of a bipartisan agreement on a bill to support the auto industry.
As the nation’s auto industry posts record losses in third quarter filings and leaders of the Big Three auto makers appeal to Congress for support of the struggling auto industry, Senator Brown attended the Senate Banking Committee hearing entitled “Examining the State of the Domestic Automobile Industry" on November 18th, 2008.
Senator Brown joined Harrison County community leaders on November 14th, 2008 for a roundtable discussion on the economy, jobs, and healthcare.
“The needs of Ohio middle class families must be heard in Washington,” said Brown. “This roundtable discussion is a way that we can work together to set new policies in Washington that reflect the values of families in Harrison County.”

Dayton-area middle class families shared their household costs with U.S. Senator Brown as he released a Middle Class Families Cost Index. “Middle class families are working harder, earning less, and paying more,” said Brown. “This combination is not sustainable. We need a new set of priorities in Washington that puts Dayton middle class families first.”
Senator Brown joined Pike County community leaders for a roundtable discussion on the economy, infrastructure, and clean-up efforts at The American Centrifuge Plant. “The needs of Ohio middle class families must be heard in Washington,” said Brown. “This roundtable discussion is a way that we can work together to set new policies in Washington that reflect the values of families in Pike County.”
Senator Brown met with Adams County community leaders to discuss the latest economic development efforts in the region and how the federal government can assist with local growth, including investment in alternative energy research and development, health care, education, and local economic development projects.
Senator Brown held a hearing of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) at Sinclair Community College to examine current economic policies, jobs loss, and potential for job creation in Ohio. Brown, a member of the HELP Committee, chaired the hearing entitled “Midwest Jobs Picture: Strategies to Rebuild Communities.”

Senator Sherrod Brown presented a Purple Heart award to Vance Noah, an Iraq war veteran from Parma. Noah served as a Sergeant in Iraq from August 2005 to November 2006 and sustained injuries in July 2006 when a suicide bomber detonated into his vehicle.
