Civil Rights |
From providing state and local governments with the resources to make sure every vote is counted to ending employment and pay discrimination, promoting civil rights is one of my top priorities in Congress. As the lead sponsor of legislation to repeal the misguided Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy in our military, I believe that all qualified patriotic men and women should be allowed to serve our country. I’ve also spoken out against the President’s illegal warrantless wiretapping program. Some of America’s most cherished values are equality, privacy and opportunity. I believe it’s the duty of Congress and every elected official to honor our shared values and our Constitution in everything we do.
