Immigration |
I
believe in adopting a compassionate but tough approach to solving the complex
problem of immigration. For years, I have supported the 9/11 Commission’s
recommendation to add more and better-equipped border agents. I also
believe that any immigration reform plan that does not deal with the millions
of people who are already living and working here is unrealistic. I
believe in creating a path - with real requirements and real accountability -
that allows people to legally enter our workforce and penalizes both workers
and employers who break the law. I also support updating our visa system
to ensure that workers who fill a vital role in our country's economy are
coming here legally – including the use of H-1B visas to ensure the most
talented scientists and engineers in the world are working in America, and H-2A
visas for temporary agricultural workers, which provide a vital service to one
of California’s largest industries.
