Rep. Ellen Tauscher Responds to California Transportation Commission’s List of Improvements:

Washington, DC – Today, the California Transportation Commission approved $4.5 billion in state transportation infrastructure funding.  Rep. Ellen Tauscher made the following statement on the Commission’s actions:

“Today is a great day for the State of California and residents of the Bay Area.  The California Transportation Commission delivered on their promise to relieve congestion throughout the state with Bay Area and Solano County commuters coming out on top.  With funding allocated to reduce congestion at the Caldecott tunnel, in East Contra Costa County on Highway 4, in Livermore on I-580 and on I-80 in Solano County, the benefits of this bond will be felt district-wide. 

The single largest project in Northern California, the Caldecott Tunnel fourth bore project will provide considerable relief to commuters in the East Bay who are trying to get home to their families each night, and I thank the CTC for acknowledging its importance.  In Solano County, I was happy to see that we were successful in adding $56 million for the I-80 HOV lane project.  Because of this, Solano County will receive over $100 million in state bond funding – a great accomplishment.  There is certainly work left to be done at the 80/680 interchange and there is plenty of opportunity for funding in future rounds of bond funding and I look forward to working with our state and local partners to make this happen.”
