The borough was incorporated in 1917 and enlarged in
1918.Originally known as Teterboro, the
name was briefly changed to Bendix Borough in 1937, and back to Teterboro in
1943.

Statement: Cautiously Optimistic about Stewart Airport Acquisition by the Port Authority Yesterday,
the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's Board of Directors
authorized the agency to acquire Stewart Airport, located in the Hudson
Valley in New York. If successful, the move is expected to relieve air
traffic at Teterboro Airport, as well as Newark, LaGuardia, and John F.
