Edgewater, one of 70 municipalities located in Bergen County, is home to approximately 10,000 residents.  The Borough is well known for its many specialty shops and popular restaurants, a vibrant waterfront business community, and Japantown, which contains a Mitsuwa Marketplace that draws visitors from all over the region.

Located along the Hudson River, direct-ferry service is available between Edgewater and New York City. The borough was established in 1894, and was known as the Borough of Undercliff until the name was changed in 1899.
