As a Member of Congress, I have the privilege of recommending a select group of individuals for admission to the United States service academies: Army, Navy, Air Force and Merchant Marine. The selection of appointments is highly competitive. Applicants must be residents of the 18th Congressional District of Florida and between the ages of 17 and 22.

In addition, the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, offers appointment solely on the basis of an annual nationwide competition. There are no Congressional appointments or geographical quotas involved. All applicants must apply directly to the U.S. Coast Guard Office at: Director of Admissions, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, Connecticut, 06320-4195.
