Reid Statement On Obama Economic Team

Washington, DCSenate Majority Leader Harry Reid made the following statement today in response to President-elect Obama’s nominations to his economic team:

“The visionary leaders President-elect Obama has selected for his economic team will put our nation in the strongest position to revive a weakening economy.  They represent Obama’s commitment to bringing in appointees of the highest quality, as well as his recognition of the urgency with which we must address the current crisis.

“Democrats in Congress share that sense of urgency, which is why we will work quickly to pass a substantial economic recovery package that creates good-paying jobs here in America, cuts taxes for the middle class and stabilizes a volatile market.  With the cooperation of our Republican colleagues, we intend to send a plan to the White House as soon as possible following President-elect Obama’s inauguration.”
