Job Summary

Provide expertise to House offices on electronic records management and ensure the preservation and transfer of official electronic records to the National Archives and Records Administration. The Assistant Archivist also assists the House Archivist in managing the records of the House, as well as providing information and consultation to Members, Committees, and Congressional staff regarding historical papers and documents.

Requirements:

Temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful and professional manner.  Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. The successful candidate must have experience managing, preserving, and retiring electronic records, as well as the temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful, pleasant, and professional manner. Must have a high degree of analytical, research, and problem-solving skills and organizational ability and be detail-oriented with excellent writing and communication skills. An M.L.S. with a focus in Archival Management, and/or a minimum of five years of progressively responsible archival experience is desired. Knowledge of the historical value and the potential research value of congressional materials is encouraged.
