Intern Program
Thank you for your interest in serving as an intern in the Office of Senator Elizabeth Dole. We are pleased to share the information with you.
An internship in Senator Dole's office is a tremendous experience that provides students interested in public service an excellent opportunity to observe our democracy at work and participate in the legislative process. Interns witness the workings of the United States Congress from a unique perspective, and develop knowledge and professional skills that will prove to be invaluable in future career pursuits.
Senator Dole has long encouraged young people to become involved in the political process. As a public servant for over 35 years, she strongly believes that public service is a noble thing to do, and a wonderful way to give back.
The Intern Program is open to qualified undergraduate and graduate students who have strong interest in public service and government and have achieved academic excellence. While preference is given to North Carolina residents, students from all areas are encouraged to apply. Internships are available for the fall and spring semesters during the school year, and two internship sessions are available for the summer. Internships are unpaid.
A limited number of internships are available and the volume of applications received is quite high. As a result, the selection process is very competitive and interested applicants are encouraged to submit their completed Application Packets as early as possible.
Please indicate on your application which session you will be available to intern:
Spring Session (January 7th-May 9th) – Due the second Monday of November
Summer Session I (May 19th-June 27th) – Due the third Monday of March
Summer Session II (July 7th-August 15th) – Due the third Monday of March
Fall Session (August 18-December 12) – Due the second Monday of June
