Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen & Hon. Dexter Lehtinen To Serve As GRAND MARSHALS Of The VETERANS DAY PARADE In Homestead; Will Also Participate In Veterans Memorial Dedication & VFW Luncheon

Miami, Florida ---- The Honorables Dexter Lehtinen and Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen will serve as Grand Marshals of the Veterans Day Parade for Homestead & Florida City on Tuesday, November 11th, 2008. The Lehtinen’s are strong and tireless supporters of South Florida’s veterans and indeed the nations’.

 

At 11AM, Dexter Lehtinen, a Army veteran of , will speak at the Veterans Memorial at Losner Park on Krome Avenue in downtown Homestead. Losner Park is located at 104 North Krome Avenue, Homestead. Starting at 12 noon, the Annual Veterans Day Parade commences with Dexter and Ileana serving as Grand Marshals and riding on a Army military humvee near the start of the parade.

 

After the end of the parade, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #4127 will host them for hotdogs & hamburgers as they join in camaraderie with fellow veterans of foreign wars.

 

 Dexter Lehtinen is a native of Homestead, Florida, born in the old James Archer Smith Hospital.  He grew up in Homestead and across South Florida and followed his brother, Douglas, (5th Special Forces) to valiantly serving his country as a Reconnaissance Platoon Leader, Paratrooper, and Ranger Commando.  He was retired for wounds he received in action after 18 months in a military hospital.  

           

 Their son and daughter-in-law, Marine Corps Captains Doug and Lindsey Lehtinen, served as Weapons Officers in FA-18 Super Hornets in Iraq along the Syrian border, Lindsey went on to fly in Afghanistan, and Doug to the Pacific Command.  They currently are stationed at the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland.         

 

Joining Dexter and Ileana in the parade to toss candy to the crowds will be future Marine, Alexander Zimmerman, a resident of Homestead and 7th grade student at Christian Preparatory Academy of South Dade.
