Internships

Spring, summer, and fall semester internships are available in Congressman Matheson's Washington, D.C. and Salt Lake offices for current college juniors and seniors.

Washington, D.C.: Interns are very involved in the office-- they assist with legislative research projects, attend Congressional hearings and briefings, and conduct tours of the U.S. Capitol. Interns are expected to help with daily office tasks as well, but the focus of this internship is to learn about the inner workings of a busy Capitol Hill office.

Salt Lake City: District office interns assist in community outreach planning, attend meetings throughout the city, and conduct directed research. Interns also help the office manager, caseworkers, and press secretary with special projects. The primary focus of this internship is to learn firsthand about local Congressional offices, their functions, and their importance in addressing constituent concerns.

To apply for an internship, please fax a cover letter, a resume, a writing sample (3-5 pages), and at least two references to the office in which you would like to work. Applications should be received well in advance of the semester for which you are applying. Please feel free to call either office if you have any questions about the application process.

**If you are a student at the University of Utah, please contact the Hinckley Institute for more information on how to apply for an internship
