Rahall Statement On President Bush's Veto Of Troop, Veteran Funding Bill

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall, D-WV, issued the following statement following President Bush's veto of H.R.1591, Troop Readiness, Veterans' Health, and Iraq Accountability Act, 2007:

"Last November, the American people made clear their desire for a new direction in Iraq. Today the President vetoed legislation containing language the Congress passed to bring our troops home. Sadly, this veto comes on the fourth anniversary of his 'mission accomplished' speech aboard the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln, and serves as a reminder of how stubbornly out of touch this President is with the American people. The Congress will certainly not let down our troops or our veterans and will move again to fund their needs, but we must do so while also holding the President and the Iraqis accountable."
