Rahall Again Casts Vote In Favor Of Legislation Providing For Troops, Veterans

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall, D-WV, cast his vote in favor of a bill that passed the House of Representatives late Thursday that will provide funding for America's troops and veterans, while also holding President Bush and the Iraqis accountable for making progress in Iraq.

The bill, H.R. 2206, would provide $42.8 billion for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and another $52.8 billion at the end of July, providing that solid progress has been made toward stabilizing Iraq and bringing America's troops home safely. The bill also includes $1.8 billion for veterans healthcare.

"This Mother's Day, too many mothers will yet again be spending this special day alone, while their children, who are still in Iraq, are fighting a war that the majority of Americans want to see come to an end," Rahall said. "The legislation that we passed in the waning hours Thursday night reflects this will of the American people, by demanding a change of course in Iraq, while also providing funding for the brave men and women who have answered the call of duty."

The legislation now heads to the Senate.
