Rahall Announces $106,190 Grant For Ritter Park Playground Island Addition

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall (D-WV) announced today that a $106,190 grant from the National Parks Service Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) has been awarded to the Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District for the Ritter Park Playground Island Addition.

"I am happy to see the Federal Government doing its part to help beautify Huntington," said Rahall. "I'm sure this park will bring countless hours of fun to children of Huntington, as well as enhance the natural beauty of the area."

The Land and Water Conservation Fund, a program that falls under the jurisdiction of the Natural Resources Committee, which Rahall chairs, provides matching funds to local communities for the acquisition, development, and conservation of parks and open space.

"I have long fought for increased funding for the LWCF program to help ensure that our communities have clean green spaces for the public to enjoy," Rahall said.

This funding will go toward the development of the sunken basin area of Ritter Park into a new playground. The estimated total project cost is $322,580.
