WOLF URGES MANAGEMENT COMPANY OF STERLING BIG LOTS STORE TO AGGRESSIVELY ADDRESS LOITERING ISSUES ON PROPERTY

Washington, D.C. -- Rep. Frank Wolf (R-10th) today released the following letter to the property management company that maintains the Big Lots store on Sterling Boulevard in Sterling.

Wolf sent the letter at the request of members of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors and Loudoun County Sheriff Steve Simpson.

Wolf, who is widely recognized as the driving force behind the creation of the Northern Virginia Regional Gang Task Force, toured the area on Monday at the request of Sterling Supervisor Eugene Delgaudio.  Wolf contacted the board last month to offer any assistance he could provide on the federal level in dealing with criminal activity in the area.

The letter is also available here.

Mr. Ray Leverty
Property Manager
Gelman Management Company
3901 A Branch Ave
Marlow Heights MD 20748

Dear Mr. Leverty:

Earlier this week, I visited the Gelman Management Company property located at 300 N. Sterling Boulevard in Sterling Park, Virginia at the request of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors and Sheriff Simpson.  As you know, this property was the scene of a violent crime earlier this year and continues to be of grave concern to the residents of Sterling Park.

I was told that you and the Gelman family have been contacted on several occasions regarding the enforcement of loitering laws on your property.  It is my understanding that on weekends the loitering on the property is out of control and unacceptable.  No resident should be afraid to visit any business establishments in Sterling Park or elsewhere in the county.

In light of the recent crime activity on and around your property, I respectfully request that you and the Gelman family work with the Board of Supervisors and Sheriff to address this urgent concern and ensure that loitering laws are enforced.  As the property manager, it is your responsibility and obligation to see that property is well maintained and visitor safety is protected.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.  Please do not hesitate to contact me or my staff member, Thomas Culligan, at 202-225-5136 if I may be of assistance in addressing this concern.

Best wishes.

Sincerely,
Frank R. Wolf
