Rainelle Resident Interns in Rahall's DC Office

U.S. Representative Nick Rahall (D-WV) recently expressed his appreciation for William Hicks of Rainelle on the completion of an 8 week internship learning about the federal legislative process in the Congressman’s Washington, DC office.

“William is a hard-working, intelligent young man who has a bright future ahead of him,” said Rahall.  “I hope that he has enjoyed his time in our office as much as we have enjoyed having him here.”

Hicks is a 2003 graduate of Greenbrier East High School and is currently studying political science at Concord University.  Hicks has served on the Student Government at Concord in the position of Senator and is currently serving in the position of Parliamentarian.  While at Concord, Hicks works as a Resident Assistant mentoring students with the rigors of college life.  Hicks also serves as a Specialist in the West Virginia Army National Guard with the 1st of the 201st Field Artillery Unit from Lewisburg.

Following completion of his undergraduate degree in May 2009, Hicks plans on getting a job as a Resident Director and going on to graduate school to study American politics. After graduate school, Hicks plans to pursue a career in public service.  During his time on Capitol Hill, Hicks has helped Congressman Rahall and his staff by doing research, attending committee hearings on issues like economic policy and natural resources, and assisting with constituent correspondence.

“This has been a very exciting and learning experience for me,” said Hicks. “I would like to thank Congressman Rahall and his staff for this opportunity.  It has been my privilege to work for Congressman Rahall and the great people of southern West Virginia. I have enjoyed my time here in Washington and have learned many valuable tools that I am sure will help me in my future endeavors.”

Hicks is the son of Jerry Gwinn from Meadow Bridge and Debra Bare of Renick.
