Rahall Announces $59K for Upper Laurel Ambulance Equipment

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall (D-WV) announced today that a $59,375 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) grant has been awarded to the Upper Laurel  Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. in Wyoming County for operations and safety programs.

“Southern West Virginia’s firefighters are on the frontlines protecting our communities every day," said Rahall.  "This funding will help ensure that local authorities have the critical support equipment they need to protect our homes and keep our families safe.”

This funding will allow the Upper Laurel Volunteer Fire Department to purchase five 12-lead portable cardiac monitors for use in the department's ambulances.

This funding comes from the DHS’ Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program, which has been providing funding to fire departments and other first responders since 2004. Grants through the AFG program are awarded to first-responder organizations for the purchase of response equipment, personal protective equipment, and vehicles.
