Rahall: It's Not Too Late To File For Tax Rebate
06/23/08U.S. Rep. Nick J. Rahall (D-WV) reminded southern West Virginians that it's not too late to file for a $300-$600 tax rebate, part of the Economic Stimulus Package passed by Congress earlier this year.
This tax rebate was specifically designed to help American families during our current economic slowdown,” said Rahall. “I want to remind the 20,000 seniors and veterans in southern West Virginia who have not filed that they still have time—until October 15th of this year—to file for their rebate. It’s not too late.”
Number of West Virginians who have not filed for their tax rebate by County:
Recipients of Social Security or Veterans Affairs benefits have until October 15, 2008 to file a federal tax return to receive the rebate, even if they are not normally required to file a return. The $300-$600 tax rebate is non-taxable and will not affect 2007 or 2008 federal tax returns.
For more information and assistance filing, Third District residents can visit West Virginia's IRS offices in Charleston, Bridgeport, Parkersburg, Huntington, Martinsburg, or Sophia. These offices are open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
