Rahall Announces $117,384 DHS Grant For Welch Volunteer Fire Department

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall (D-WV) announced today that a $117,384 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) grant has been awarded to the Welch Volunteer Fire Department for operations and safety programs.

"The fall fire season is once again upon us," said Rahall. "This funding will help ensure that our firefighters have the equipment and training they need to protect the homes and businesses in Welch during the dry months ahead."

This funding comes from the DHS' Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program, which has been providing funding to fire departments and other first responders since 2004. Grants through the AFG program are awarded to first-responder organizations for the purchase of response equipment, personal protective equipment, and vehicles.
