Rahall Announces $1 Million for Greenbrier County Technology Center

U.S. Representative Nick Rahall, D-WV, announced Wednesday that the Economic Development Administration (EDA) has approved the award of a $1 million grant for improvements to the Rahall Business and Technology Center in Lewisburg, Greenbrier County.

“Increasingly, southern West Virginia is venturing into the high-tech arena to diversify its economic base,” Rahall said. “The Rahall Business and Technology Center is a vital component in the Connected Technologies Corridor program, an initiative that I have long envisioned as a cutting-edge path to a brighter future for ourselves, our children, and our grandchildren.”

The $1 million EDA grant, which Rahall helped to secure, will be awarded to the Greenbrier Valley Economic Development Corporation to enhance the technology center, located at the Greenbrier Valley Airport. It is estimated that 375 jobs will be reacted as a result of the improvements.

Congressman Rahall has been responsible for providing funding to develop this technology center, which serves as the Eastern Anchor for the I-64 Technology Corridor that runs between the Lewisburg-White Sulphur Springs area and Beckley. This is just one of the projects within the service area of the Connected Technologies Corridors Program initiated by Congressman Rahall.

“By investing in this center, we are sewing seeds for a fruitful future,” Rahall said. “I look forward to the day that this center is bustling with businesses and we gather to give thanks for the bountiful economic harvest it promises today.”
