US Army Comes to the Rescue of Crab Orchard-Mac Arthur PSD

At the urging of U.S. Rep. Nick J. Rahall (D-WV), the U.S. Army, in the form of the Corps of Engineers, has agreed to participate in the improvement of wastewater treatment serving the communities of Fairdale, Glen Daniel, Surveyor, Holley Hills Estates and the Stevenwood Subdivision in Raleigh County. The initial $700,000 in federal funds for the project comes from an innovative environmental infrastructure program put in place by Rahall several years ago.

"This is the start of a crucial project that will upgrade and update the sewage treatment service in Raleigh County," said Rahall. "Phase 1 of this project alone will help 200 existing customers and 600 new customers with sewage treatment service in Raleigh County."

The project is part of Congressman Rahall's Southern West Virginia Environmental Infrastructure Program. The initial funding will help get this $11.5 million project in the Crab Orchard-MacArthur area off the ground.

"I will continue my efforts to help find additional funding for full construction of this project in the future," concluded Rahall.
