Rahall Announces $46,170 DHS Grant For Matoaka Volunteer Fire Department

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall (D-WV) announced today that a $46,170 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) grant has been awarded to the Matoaka Volunteer Fire Department in Mercer County for operations and safety programs.

"Our firefighters are on the frontlines protecting our communities every day," said Rahall. "This funding will help ensure that local authorities have the critical support and training and they need to keep our homes and families safe."

This funding comes from the DHS' Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program, which has been providing funding to fire departments and other first responders since 2004. Grants through the AFG program are awarded to first-responder organizations for the purchase of response equipment, personal protective equipment, and vehicles.
