Rahall Announces NCUA Grant For Mercer Teachers Federal Credit Union

U.S. Rep. Nick J. Rahall (D-WV) announced the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) has awarded the Mercer County West Virginia Teachers Federal Credit Union of Bluefield a $1,895 technical assistance grant from the Community Development Revolving Loan Fund (CDRLF) under the Enhancing Member Services Grant Initiative.

"This grant will help the Teachers Federal Credit Union of Mercer County better serve the needs of our educators," Rahall said. "It is always good when we are able to give something back to those educators who give so much to the youth of our state."

The NCUA administers the CDRLF which provides low-income designated credit unions the opportunity to obtain loans and technical assistance grants to improve and enhance services to their members. These services are essential to stimulating economic empowerment which often results in increased credit union member savings and enables Americans from all walks of life to achieve the American dream of financial self-sufficiency and homeownership.

Funding approval is based on several factors at the credit union-the amount of dollars available from the Fund and the degree to which a credit union's application aligned with the purpose of the initiative.
