Rahall Announces $209,000 DHS Grant For Upper Laurel Fire Department

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall (D-WV) announced today that a $209,000 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) grant has been awarded to Upper Laurel Fire and Ambulance, Inc. in Wyoming County for the purchase of a 2,000-gallon tanker truck.

"Southern West Virginia's firefighters are on the frontlines protecting our communities every day," said Rahall. "This funding will help ensure that local authorities have the critical support equipment they need to protect our homes and keep our families safe."

This funding comes from the DHS' Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program, which has been providing funding to fire departments and other first responders since 2004. Grants through the AFG program are awarded to first-responder organizations for the purchase of response equipment, personal protective equipment, and vehicles.
