Rahall Announces $49,000 DHS Grant For Pipestem Volunteer Fire Department

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall (D-WV) announced today that a $49,400 Department of Homeland Security grant has been awarded to the Pipestem Volunteer Fire Department for operations and firefighter safety programs.

"Our firefighters face life-threatening situations on a daily basis," Rahall said. "These brave men and women protect our communities from fires and help in many other situations. That is why I have supported funding to better prepare them and make sure they return to their homes and families safely."

This funding comes from the DHS's Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program, which has been providing funding to fire departments and other first responders since 2004. Grants through the AFG program are awarded to first-responder organizations for the purchase of response equipment, personal protective equipment, and vehicles.
