Rahall Announces Approval for New Iaeger Post Office

U.S. Rep. Nick J. Rahall (D-WV) announced today that the United States Postal Service (USPS) has approved the construction of a new Iaeger Post Office in McDowell County.

"This is great news for all who rely on the Iaeger Post Office for their mail service," Rahall said. "After being contacted by Sen. John Pat Fanning and several area residents, I immediately contacted the USPS for an update on the project’s status. I am glad the USPS recognized the importance of our request and thank them for their prompt and helpful response.”

Rahall contacted USPS officials after being contacted by State Senator John Pat Fanning and several Iaeger residents about deteriorating conditions at the Iaeger Post Office. According to the USPS, funding for a new Iaeger Post Office has been approved and site solicitation is currently underway. Postal officials were in Iaeger on Thursday performing site evaluations for the new facility.

“We’re very thankful for Congressman Rahall’s help and are looking forward to using the new post office in the near future,” said State Senator John Pat Fanning, who represents McDowell County.

“In addition to the residents of Iaeger, this facility serves a great deal of people from the surrounding communities,” said Rahall. “I will continue to closely monitor the situation to ensure that the Post Office in Iaeger is fully productive, accessible, and capable of handling the mail distribution for the residents of McDowell County.”
