2008 Artistic Discovery Art Competition

I am pleased to announce that the 12th Congressional District of North Carolina will be participating in the 2008 Congressional Art Competition:  An Artistic Discovery, the Congressional high school art competition that encourages and recognizes the rich artistic talents of our nation’s young people.

The competition is open to all high school students who reside, attend school or are enrolled in an art program in the 12th Congressional District.  I have enclosed guidelines that further explain the competition, as well as some entry forms to be completed by the students who submit entries.

The winning entry from each congressional district will be displayed for one year in the Capital Building in Washington, DC.  The winning students and a guest will be invited to attend a Congressional Reception to honor this year’s student winners on June 25, 2008 in Washington, DC and will also be eligible to receive a scholarship from Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia.

All art work should be submitted to my Charlotte and Greensboro districts offices.  Entries may be submitted beginning April 1, 2008, but no later than April 30, 2008.

Guidelines and entry forms can be accessed through the links below, please distribute this information to interested students.

If you have any questions regarding the competition, please contact Mrs. Teresa Gore in my Charlotte office at 704-344-9950 or by e-mail at Teresa.Gore@mail.house.gov.
