Flag Presentation
On October 14, 2008, Congressman Souder addressed the student body of Grace College.  In the photo above, Mark  was joined by Micah Heckert, Student Body President, and John Boal, Chief Advancement Officer (pictured: left to right)  to discuss his work in Washington on behalf of northeast Indiana.

Congressman and Mrs. Souder (seated to her husband's left) visited Howe Military School in Howe, Indiana on October 5, 2008.  During a parade at the school, Mark Souder presented the students with a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol Building .

On August 6 2008, Nucor Fastener in St. Joe, Indiana presented its “Man of Steel” Award to Congressman Mark Souder. The honor recognizes Souder for his leadership in Congress to strengthen American manufacturing and his support for fair trade.

At a press conference on August 4, 2008, Mark Souder announced that the Air National Guard base in Fort Wayne was allocated over $5 million in funding as a result of the annual appropriations process. Since being elected to office, Mark Souder has secured over $33 million in federal funding for the Air Guard Base in Fort Wayne.

On Tuesday, July 29, 2008, Congressman Mark Souder presented a Congressional Johnny Appleseed award to company president, Chuck Surack. Congressman Souder presented the award to Chuck in recognition of his leadership in building Sweetwater’s new facility to conserve energy and reduce the impact on the environment.

Only July 19, 2008, at the Elkhart County Fair, Congressman Souder presented a congressional Johnny Appleseed Award to Doc Abel.  The presentation honored Doc Abel for his lifetime of service and commitment to the community.  Doc Abel is a retired physician and has served on the fair board for 50 years.
