Visiting DC

There are many outstanding historical and entertaining sites of interest in our nation’s capital and I am happy to help you explore them. Below you will find a list of links that I hope will be helpful as you make your plans. Contact and tour information for each site is contained in the various links. There are, however, a few select sites to which our office must help you gain access. These include the White House, the Capitol and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (Mint). After perusing the links below, if you still have questions you may contact Chris Warnick of my staff at (202) 225-4436. He will be happy to assist you in any way that he can.

The White House

Currently, the White House is open to the general public. However, because of the large number of requests they receive each day, reservations can only be made for groups of 10 or more and must be submitted by a congressional office. For groups of this size, please contact Chris Warnick at (202) 225-4436 with your dates of availability, the number of people in your party and a specific contact person including phone number. A tour request will be made on your behalf and you will be contacted with further information. Tour requests must be received by our office 6 to 8 weeks prior to the requested tour date.

The Capitol

The Capitol is also open to the public. Please contact Chris Warnick at (202) 225-4436 to reserve tours. Groups of 15 – 40 must be accompanied by an official Capitol tour guide and require 2-4 weeks advance notice depending on availability. Groups of 15 or less can be led by a member of my staff and may be scheduled at any time. If you do not desire a capitol tour, but would like to sit in on a congressional debate in the House gallery, gallery passes are available upon request in our Washington DC office. The Capitol also has first-come, first-served tour tickets available everyday except Sunday. If a tour cannot be reserved through our office, tickets can still be acquired through the tour kiosk outside the capitol on the day of your visit. The ticket kiosk opens every morning at 8:30.

Bureau of Engraving and Printing (The Mint)

Requests for tours of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing are also made by contacting Chris Warnick.  Although there is no established time requirement, requests will have a better chance of being confirmed if made several weeks in advance. The larger the group requesting the tour, the more notice the Mint will need. Also, first-come, first-served public tickets are available every weekday at the main Bureau of Engraving and Printing visitor's entrance. Tickets are time-stamped and available starting at 8:30 each morning.
