Right to Life

There is nothing on earth more precious than life.  No matter where you stand on the abortion issue, most Americans find the practice of partial-birth abortion brutal and barbaric.   For years, Presidential vetoes thwarted legislation to ban partial-birth abortions.  Finally and thankfully, President Bush signed this ban into law, making it the first abortion-limiting law on the books since Roe V. Wade.  It truly was a historic moment and a milestone for the rights of the unborn.

Yet, there is still much work to be done.  That is why I back H.R.1295, the Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act of 2007, the Parental Notification and Intervention Act of 2007, and H.R. 5032, the Ultrasound Informed Consent Act.

In addition, I have co-sponsored a measure expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the Chinese Communist Party should be condemned for engaging in coercive abortion practices.
