October 30, 2008 - Murtha Dedicates Greater Johnstown Tech Park PDF  | Print |

JOHNSTOWN
, PA
– Congressman John Murtha (PA-12) joined local government officials and community leaders today in dedicating the new Greater Johnstown Tech Park.

“The much-anticipated Greater Johnstown Tech Park is the focus of our latest efforts to revitalize Johnstown,” said Murtha.  “This magnificent ‘green’ facility, which just two years ago was a deteriorating Brownfield site, will be a showcase for our region, and will allow us to attract additional high-tech jobs to downtown.”

Northrop Grumman, MTS Technologies, and the U.S. Department of Labor are the initial tenants to occupy the 100,000 square foot building.  Murtha also announced that Northrop Grumman, which will occupy the entire third floor, will expand their presence here in Johnstown with the hiring of an additional 10 high-skilled employees.

“Northrop Grumman came to Johnstown three years ago, and in that short amount of time, have become active business and community partners,” said Murtha.  “With today’s announcement that they are bringing an additional 10 jobs to Johnstown, this is further evidence of their commitment to our region.”

“From the beginning this project has been a collaboration – a true blend of private and public support at the local, state and federal level,” says Scott Becker, CEO, Conemaugh Health System.  “Our goal all along has been to create new jobs and new opportunities for the people of this region.  The Tech Park is one more step towards the revitalization of downtown Johnstown and the surrounding communities.”  # # #
