JOHNSTOWN, PA -- Congressman John P. Murtha (PA-12) joined with employees of JWF, CTC, and Lockheed Martin Systems Integration-Owego today to announce that their partnership has been selected by the U.S. Army as one of three companies selected to continue development of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV).
The JLTV program is the next generation of tactical wheeled vehicles for both the Army and Marine Corps. The three companies selected to continue development of the JLTV will be given a 27-month technology development phase, where their vehicles and equipment will undergo a series of performance and reliability testing, including assessments from troops themselves.
“Over the past few years I’ve seen first-hand the development and capabilities of the Lockheed Martin prototype vehicle, and their selection to continue in this competition is great news for Johnstown,” commented Murtha. “The JLTV program could mean 1,000 new jobs for our area, and is further proof of the quality work and capability of our local industry and their employees.”
