The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is an independent agency of the federal government.  Their mission is to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation.

This one-stop portal for starting, growing, and managing small businesses provides resources for everything you need to know from writing business plans and finding loans to bookkeeping systems, marketing, and disaster preparedness.  Business.gov directs businesses to the best sources for information on and compliance with taxes, immigration laws, workplace safety, environmental requirements, and other federal regulations.

The Office of Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) provides assistance to current and prospective small business owners. The program is a cooperative effort of the private sector, the educational community and federal, state and local governments.

The Central Coast Small Business Development Center at Cabrillo College offers free and confidential services and resources in Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties.

Additionally, the SBA has a variety of other programs and services available.
