VALENCIA, CA – Today at a press conference, Valencia Country Club officials named Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R-Santa Clarita) honorary chairman of Birdies for the Brave (B4B), a notable golf tournament fundraiser to be held November 24, 2008 at the Valencia Country Club as part of a greater national military outreach program supporting the brave men and women in uniform and their families.
“It is a great honor to be selected as honorary chair of Birdies for the Brave, an organization which has such a significant positive impact on our nation’s military and their loved ones,” said McKeon. “Six military charities will benefit from the Birdies for the Brave event and will be well supported with the strong backing of the PGA Tour and Heritage Golf Group. Birdies for the Brave is far more than just a fundraiser, it directly impacts military families and encapsulates the hearts of Americans and the gratitude they feel towards our military personnel.”
Birdies for the Brave is part of a strategic alliance between the Professional Golf Association (PGA) Tour and Heritage Golf Group.
The fundraising golf tournament will be held November 24, 2008 at the Valencia Country Club. At the Birdies for the Brave event, participants will have the privilege of meeting military personnel representing the charity firsthand. The dinner following golf will include short speeches from soldiers who were stationed in the Middle East and information about the Birdies for the Brave. This will provide the perfect opportunity for community involvement and to show support for the fine young men and women who selflessly put their lives on the line every day so that all Americans may enjoy the privileges of freedom.
“The Naval Special Warfare Foundation is so appreciative of Congressman McKeon and the Valencia Country Club and the support they’re showing to our Active Duty military,” said Kristi Cummings, board member of the Naval Special Warfare Foundation. “The funds raised help to support our military families and the event sends a very clear message to our troops that they’re supported and appreciated.”
Proceeds raised at Heritage Collection of Clubs and TPC Network Properties across the country will benefit six outstanding B4B homefront groups that directly serve military men and women and their families.
