CTTC Work for the 110th Congress:
Travel Promotion Act Passed by House of Representatives
As original cosponsors of HR 3232, The Travel Promotion Act of 2008, co-chairs Farr and Porter are pleased by the passage of this legislation.  This legislation establishes a public-private partnership to promote the United States as a premier international travel destination, communicates U.S. security and entry policies, and will create thousands of new jobs and spur economic growth nationwide.

Economic Roundtable: Travel's Significance to the U.S. Economy
The Caucus hosted a roundtable on Tuesday to discuss how the travel industry affects the U.S. economy. The roundtable brought 16 travel industry leaders to Washington to meet with top members of Congress and two members of the president’s Cabinet. Industry leaders had the opportunity to put voice to their key issues and priorities for the next administration.

Meeting with Travel and Tourism Leaders
Co-chairs Farr and Porter met with top leaders in the travel and tourism industry and discussed plans for the coming year.  During the meeting, these industry leaders unveiled a new report detailing their suggestions to help improve the United States's share of the international tourism market.

CTTC Work for the 109th Congress:
Response Letter from Carlos Gutierrez, Secretary of Commerce
The CTTC co-chairs met in June with Secretary Gutierrez to discuss the importance of the travel and tourism industry to the US economy.  During the meeting, Rep. Farr presented Secretary Gutierrez with a list of tourism-related questions.

Letter Supporting WHTI Deadline Extension
Co-Chairs and other CTTC members, signed a letter to the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Conferees.  This letter requests the conferees to support the Senate's version of the DHS Appropriations that extends the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative to June of 2009.

House Resolution 729 - Supporting National Tourism Week
CTTC co-chairs, along with many other caucus members, introduced H Res. 729.  The resolution shows supports for National Tourism Week, May 13-21, 2006.
