LEAWOOD - Congressman Jerry Moran today announced that Kiersten Goza is serving as a congressional intern in his Washington, D.C., office. Goza is a 2007 graduate of Pembroke High School.

"Working in Washington, D.C., is the best way for students to gain knowledge about the U.S. government," Moran said. "I am pleased to offer young Kansans like Kiersten the opportunity to come to our nation's capital and learn firsthand about the legislative process and the House of Representatives."

Goza will be a sophomore at Boston College this fall where she is studying international relations. At college, she plays on the club tennis team and participates in community service projects in Boston and abroad. Before beginning her internship, Goza spent two weeks in Sri Lanka volunteering at a children's home. A dean's list honors student, Goza hopes to focus on international service and aid upon graduation.

"This experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity to witness the inner workings of our government's legislative process," Goza said. "I feel honored to work for Congressman Moran and hope to absorb as much knowledge and appreciation as possible in my time here."

In the office, Goza assists Moran with legislative and administrative duties on behalf of the people of Kansas.

Kiersten is the daughter of Kirk and Shirley Goza of Leawood.
