National Security & Immigration

Keeping the American people safe from another terrorist attack is something Congressman Knollenberg thinks about each and every day. In a post 9/11 world, he believes it is imperative for the United States to maintain the world’s strongest military and to ensure that our borders are secured from the influx of illegal immigrants.

Homeland Security has a special meaning in Michigan’s 9th District as Oakland County lies just miles from an international border. Although the southern border garners more attention, the northern border cannot and should not be forgotten. As a member of the Congressional Northern Border Caucus, Congressman Knollenberg has worked diligently to provide increased funding for the northern border as well as an increase in Customs and Border Patrol Agents.

Congressman Knollenberg has also supported efforts to secure our southern border with Mexico. He is opposed to granting amnesty to illegal immigrants and supports efforts to increase penalties on businesses that knowingly hire illegal immigrants. If you cut off the demand, the supply of illegal immigrants will come to a halt.

While Knollenberg has serious concerns about the current conduct of the Iraq war, he is a strong proponent of ensuring that our brave men and women who serve in the Armed Forces have the resources they need to successfully carry out their mission. There is no disputing that mistakes have been in the execution of the Iraq war. Congressman Knollenberg believes it is imperative for the Iraqi government to take control of its own country and national defense soon. He wants our soldiers to return home as soon as possible. But he wants them to come home in victory, not defeat.
