JONES EARNS “FRIEND OF FARM BUREAU” AWARD

Jones receives pro-farmer award for 7th consecutive term.

Washington, D.C. – Yesterday evening the North Carolina Farm Bureau (NCFB) and the American Farm Bureau Federation awarded Congressman Walter Jones (R-NC) with the 110th Congress “Friend of Farm Bureau” award at the Onslow County Farm Bureau annual meeting in Jacksonville, North Carolina. NCFB is a private, non-profit, grassroots organization that represents more than 470,000 member families by actively promoting farm and rural issues.

NCFB President Larry Wooten praised Jones for his support of North Carolina agriculture saying: “Farm families in North Carolina's 3rd District should be proud of Congressman Jones' work in Washington and at home. He deserves this award because he listens to and votes with the farmers and rural people of the 3rd District. Congressman Jones has once again proven he is committed to ensuring that agriculture remains our state's number one industry."

The “Friend of Farm Bureau” award is given to those individuals who have supported Farm Bureau issues, as shown by their voting records, and who were nominated by their respective state Farm Bureau and approved by the Board of Directors of the American Farm Bureau Federation. This is the seventh consecutive term Congressman Jones has received the award, which was first presented during the 104th Congress.

“I am honored to accept this award and thankful to the North Carolina Farm Bureau for all that they do to protect the interests of our nation’s farmers,” Jones said. “Farmers are such an important part of the 3rd District, and I pledge to keep their concerns a top priority for as long as I have the privilege to serve in Congress.” The North Carolina Farm Bureau Federation was organized in 1936, with the goal of protecting the interests of farm and rural families across the state. NCFB is a grassroots organization, serving as a legislative advocate for its members at the local, state, national and international levels.
