2008 Art Congressional Art Competition

Congressman Steny H. Hoyer welcomed the winner of the 2008 5th Congressional District Congressional Arts Competition, Riva resident Ian Goldin, to the U.S. Capitol for the unveiling of the young artist’s winning entry, a digital photograph of a city street scene titled “Shadows Passing By.”

U.N. International Day in Support of Victims of Torture

Congressman Steny Hoyer (MD-05) and members of Maryland’s Congressional delegation, Reps. Eijah E. Cummings (MD-07), Chris Van Hollen (MD-08), John Sarbanes (MD-03), and Donna Edwards (MD-04) joined the Maryland-based Advocates for Survivors of Torture and Trauma (ASTT) in the U.S. Capitol to show support for victims of torture on the U.N. International Day in Support of Victims of Torture.

2008 U.S. Service Academy Tea

On Monday, June 23, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer hosted a congratulatory tea reception on Capitol Hill for students from the Fifth Congressional District (Charles, Calvert, St. Mary’s and areas of Prince George’s and Anne Arundel counties) who were offered appointments to a U.S. Service academy this year.

Star Spangled Banner Trail Celebration

Rep. Hoyer and members of Maryland's Congressional Delegation celebrate the creation of the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail, designating the routes used by the British and American soldiers during the Chesapeake Campaign of the War of 1812 as a National Historic Trail.
