Presidential Inauguration - January 20, 2009 |
The inauguration of the President of the United States is an historical moment for our nation. This quadrennial event bespeaks the majesty and honor and tradition surrounding the Presidency.
I know many of you are interested in attending the actual inaugural swearing-in ceremony as well as other celebratory events, including the inaugural balls. Tickets for the swearing-in are made available through my office and the offices of Senator Feinstein and Senator Boxer.
Tickets to the swearing-in ceremony on January 20 are already all gone. I cannot accept any more requests. I am so sorry. The number of people requesting tickets has far exceeded the number of tickets I will have to distribute. From the look of things I do not believe I will have enough tickets to cover everybody who has already called.
Currently there is little information on tickets or event scheduling available, but should be after President-elect Obama has determined his inauguration program - usually in December. For now, general information is available at the website of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies at http://inaugural.senate.gov/.
If you do plan to attend inaugural activities, I urge you to make your travel plans early as the Washington area will book up quickly for this ceremony. In the meantime, if there is anything more I can do to assist you, please feel free to call any of my offices.
