October 22, 2008 - Farr Rates Perfect on Civil Rights

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Sam Farr (D-Carmel) has received a 100 percent vote rating from the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights.

The organization selected 23 votes during the 110th Congress, which spanned 2007 and 2008, to rate members of the House of Representatives. Rep. Farr's vote on each piece of legislation supported the priorities of LCCR.

"I've always said my political career began nearly 45 years ago in Colombia, where I taught poor locals to stand up to the government and fight for their rights," said Rep. Farr. "I've carried on that human rights work through my years on the Central Coast and in Washington and I'm proud to be recognized for it by LCCR."

The LCCR rated congressional support for, or opposition to, bills containing civil rights protections, hate crimes and immigration legislation and other issues.

"We greatly appreciate your continued support of LCCR and its issues during the 110th Congress," said Wade Henderson, LCCR's president and CEO.

LCCR, the nation's largest civil and human rights coalition, was founded in 1950. It is made up of almost 200 national organizations representing persons of color, women, children, labor unions, individuals with disabilities, older Americans, major religious groups, gays and lesbians and civil liberties and human rights groups.
