Legislation in the 110th Congress

The first session of the 110th Congress convened on January 4th, 2007.  This section of my site can be used as a resource for all that has been happening in Congress this session.

Legislation that I've Sponsored and Co-Sponsored in the 110th Congress can by found by clicking on the appropriate link.

Visit the Thomas main page for more comprehensive search options. Thomas, in the spirit of Thomas Jefferson, is the electronic legislative information arm of the Library of Congress.

When it comes to current legislation, you can search through summaries and the status of particular bills. You can also specifically search bill text and get information about roll call votes that have already taken place on bills.  And finally, you can run more advanced and comprehensive searches through the Library of Congress's website.

Currently on the House Floor

When we're in session, you can use these resources to get real time updates from the House floor.

The House Clerk's website is a great resource.  Here you can see up to the minute text summaries of floor procedures. If you are watching House floor proceedings live on CSPAN, use your web browser's "refresh" function periodically. Updates will appear in reverse chronological order.

In addition, C-SPAN provides live video footage on their website so you can watch proceedings live on your home, office, or classroom computer.

In a given week, the House Majority Whip publishes a schedule of legislation the House intends to consider for that week.  This document, referred to as the "Whip Notice," can be viewed at the House Majority Whip's website.  You can also find historical information about the Democratic Whip and the Republican Whip courtesy of the office of the House Clerk.

For information such as news releases, hearing schedules and transcripts, and oversight plans for the 19 standing committees, as well as other joint and select committees, can be found at the official website of the United States House of Representatives.

The Congressional Record is the official record of the proceedings and debates of the United States Congress. It is published daily when Congress is in session. It includes speeches and statements made in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives by all members.
